Every September, hospitality associates around the world celebrate International Hospitality Week and the Navy Exchange Service Command’s Navy Lodge Program associates are no exception.
This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Navy Lodge Program is expanding the celebration from September 6-20 to ensure all its associates are able to safely participate. Any Navy Lodge associate participating in International Hospitality Week activities is required to wear a cloth face covering and maintain 6-feet of social distancing.
“My staff has been working non-stop to implement and maintain enhanced cleaning standards to ensure our guests stay healthy and safe during the pandemic,” said Jessie E. Richards, general manager, Navy Lodge Patuxent River. “They are really looking forward to participating in this year’s International Hospitality Week. It will give them a little respite and an excuse for some friendly competition during what has been a very busy time.”
On Sept. 1, the Navy Lodge Program implemented the Shipshape and Squared Away program to inform guests of the heightened sanitation and cleaning protocols that are in place which include regular cleaning of high touch areas and a clean seal of approval on every guest door that indicates or displays that no one has entered since it was cleaned.
The Navy Lodge Program offers clean and comfortable accommodations at 39 locations around the world at a savings of 45% compared to civilian hotels. Navy Lodges feature business class and standard rooms and family suites as well laundry facilities, vending machines and a workout room at many locations. Every Navy Lodge is accessible. In addition guests receive free breakfast and Wi-Fi during their stay. As an added convenience, cats and dogs up to 70 pounds in weight can stay at many Navy Lodges when traveling with their owner.
