Out of concern for the safety of their clients, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) office at NAS Patuxent River is launching its first virtual Budget for Baby Workshop via Skype for Business.

This workshop is available to active duty and retired Navy and Marine Corps personnel and their eligible family members up to six months after their delivery date, whether it’s their first baby or not, or even if they’re just thinking of having a baby,” said Maureen Farrell, director of the Pax NMCRS office. “I think this is an important workshop for new parents as well as seasoned parents. Information is constantly changing and the workshop allows for an exchange of ideas as well.”

Rooted in anticipating the additional expenses brought on by growing a family, the Budget for Baby Workshop helps participants gain a realistic expectation of expenses and offers money saving suggestions to help them better understand their budget changes and think about future financial goals. After completion, each participating family will receive a gift card and a baby blanket made by NMCRS volunteers.

In addition to the Sept. 23 class, there will be two more scheduled for October and December this year. The class is limited to eight participants/families. To register, or for more information, call the NMCRS Pax River Office at 301-342-4739, to receive the Skype link and materials to download. One on one in-office Budget for Baby sessions are also available by appointment only.
