Commemorating Midway/D-Day

NAS Patuxent River and the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum held a commemoration in honor of the 77th anniversary of the Battle of Midway and the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy at the Pax River Naval Air Museum June 6.

Guest speakers at the event included Capt. Christopher Cox, NAS Patuxent River commanding officer, and George Hill, Patuxent River Naval Air Museum President. Both speakers made note of the courage displayed by U.S. service members in both battles, the intelligence gathering and deception efforts to confuse the enemy, and the effect both battles played in the course of their respective operational theaters and the outcome of the war as whole.
