Participants showed their true colors when MWR and the Fleet and Family Support Center (FFSC) partnered in support of Domestic Violence Prevention Month with a Burst of Color 5K Run/Walk aboard NAS Patuxent River Oct. 5.

Starting and finishing at the Parade Field, participants of all ages negotiated various color stations along the route before congregating at the finish line for one big, colorful grand finale.

Domestic violence can happen to anyone, anywhere, at anytime regardless of military service, race, ethnicity, education level, religion, gender or age. Although experiencing stress is common for service members and their families, it should never be used as an excuse to explain or justify domestic violence under any circumstances.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger call 911 or contact National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE); or contact Military OneSource at 1-800-342-9647 to locate a victim advocate in your area; or phone the Pax River FFSC office at 301-342-4911 to find out what programs are available to assist you.
