Cedar Point Ladies Golf Association Opening Day

County Call Center, COVID-19

St. Mary’s County Government and St. Mary’s County Health Department have partnered to open an informational call center for local residents needing more information about the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Community members can call the center Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to speak with staff, obtain information about the disease, or get their questions answered at (301) 475-4911.

How to Help with COVID-19

Maryland community members, including any healthcare professionals, who want to volunteer to assist with the COVID-19 response should register through the Medical Reserve Corps Network Road to Readiness initiative at: https://mdr.health.maryland.gov/Pages/RoadtoReadiness.aspx. MD Primary Election Postponed

Maryland’s primary election will be held Tuesday, June 2. Early voting will be conducted from May 21-28. Voters who prefer to vote from home can request an absentee ballot online by visiting https://www.elections.maryland.gov and clicking the “Request a Ballot” box or obtaining a request form from elections.maryland.gov/voting/absentee.html. The new deadline to request an absentee ballot for the primary election is May 26 if the voter wants to receive the ballot by mail, or May 29 if the voter wants to receive the ballot electronically. Voted ballots must be postmarked on or before Tuesday, June 2.

Test Squadron Familiarization Courses

Naval Test Wing Atlantic’s (NTWL) squadron familiarization courses been designed to help employees experience the missions of its test and evaluation squadrons. Open to all NAVAIR employees and contractors. This is a chance to see your platforms, where they live and who tests them up close. Space is limited and seats are filling up for our first courses fast. If you can’t get in, don’t worry—check in later to see if new spots open or sign up for the next offering. NEXTGen Scholars Program

Next drawing end of March

The Navy Exchange Service Command’s (NEXCOM) NEXTgen Scholars Program offers qualified students the opportunity to win $2,500, $1,500, $1,000 or $500 each quarter. The next drawing is at the end of March 2020.To enter, students must be full-time with a “B” grade point average or better. Students must bring their current report card or other performance document to any NEX, fill out an entry card and have any documentation validated by a NEX associate. Noticed a friend posting thoughts about suicide on social media? Take the post seriously. Even if it seems like he or she may be joking or casually venting, remember that people may use humor to hide their pain. Reach out to your friend and ask if he or she is considering suicide. Share contact information for resources such as a chaplain, trusted leader, or Military Crisis Line (1-800-273-TALK, Option 1; text 838255 from a mobile device; or visit www.militarycrisisline.net.)

Reporting Damages on Base

If notice anything around the installation that needs attention, report it. If it is an immediate problem that risks, health, safety, or damage to government property, call the service desk (202-433-3951) to report it and notify the Base COD. If it is something around your facility that needs fixing, report it to your building’s Facility Coordinator (every building has one). If you’re driving around and notice a fallen road sign, pothole, or anything else that needs to be fixed, call or email it in to the service desk at 202-433-3951 or NAVFAC_Patuxent_River_Service_Desk@navy.mil.

Where’s Gnorman? Temporarily Suspended

Gnorman – like many other Pax personnel – is teleworking and will not be hiding in the pages of Tester again until the current COVID-19 situation has returned to normal. In the March 19 issue, however, he was found by XXXXXX XXXXX in the Carrier Task Force 2030 photo on page 2.
