The National Council of the Boy Scouts of America supports more than 300 local councils. Tiger Cubs is a school-year program for first grade or 7-year-old boys with an adult. The Cub Scouting program is for boys in the second through fifth grades or who are ages 8 through 10, and a program called Webelos (We’ll Be Loyal Scouts) is for fourth- or fifth-grade boys (age 10). The Boy Scouting program is for ages 11 to 17; Varsity Scouting is for ages 14 to 17.

Girl Scouts is the world’s largest organization for girls and is open to ages 5 to 18. Daisy Girl Scouts are ages 5 to 6 and in kindergarten or first grade. Brownie Girl Scouts are ages 5 to 8 and in first, second or third grades. Cadette Girl Scouts are ages 11 to 14 and in sixth, seventh, eighth or ninth grades. Senior Girl Scouts are ages 14 to 17 and in grades nine through 12. Residents who wish to be put in contact with the troop closest to them should call Sheeleah Prince at 301-861-5864, ext. 4021.
