The holiday season is a time for family, friends, festive occasions and revelry – a time to reflect and celebrate all that life has to offer. The holiday season is also one of the busiest times of the year and it is so important that safety be your watch word.
The recent Wingman Day sessions that took place across Air Force District of Washington reinforced the commitment we have to each other as an AFDW team. It is also critical that we watch out for each other, keeping safety in the forefront of our plans and actions.
Statistically, the Air Force loses six members on average during the holidays to preventable mishaps — the operative word is preventable! The best approach to safety is combining risk management techniques with your travels and activities, and just using plain common sense.
Think of it like this: It’s better to arrive a little later at your destination or take time to double check the electrical wiring for your decorations than to spend time in the emergency room or putting a fire out in your house.
I wish you a very happy holiday season and look forward to bringing in the new year safely so that each of us is ready to make 2007 a very successful and productive year!
