Marine Corps Combat Development Command will host the Marine Corps Birthday Pageant on Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. in the LittleHall theater to celebrate the 234th Marine Corps birthday.
The event will consist of the presenting of colors; a pageant, where Marines will showcase historical uniforms; and a cake cutting ceremony. The uniform for Marines attending is Service Bravos with garrison coverand ribbons.
New chapel schedules first service
The first memorial service in the newly dedicated Semper Fidelis Memorial Chapel on the grounds of the National Museum of the Marine Corps is scheduled for Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
Sgt. Kenneth M. O’Donnell, a formerMarine Raider, will be remembered by friends and family. He enlisted Sept. 9, 1942 and served with the 4th RaiderBattalion, under the command of Lt. Col. James Roosevelt.
O’Donnell was wounded twice during the assault on Bairoko Harbor, New Georgia. O’Donnell is survived by his wife andthree sons. A reception will follow insidethe museum.

Effective Monday, all Quantico-based Marines are to wear the woodlandMarine pattern uniform with sleevesdown. The Service Bravo uniform, with green sweater optional, is to be worn every Friday following.
Volunteers needed for three events
Adopt-a-School of Madison, Va., is seeking four Marines to speak to children, grades 6 through 12, about serving their country and being proud to be Marines on Nov. 11. Transportation will be provided and will leave Lejeune Hall at 5 a.m.
The city of Madison, Va., is also looking for a Marine to sing the National Anthem at Madison City Hall on Nov. 11. The event starts at 7:30 p.m.
The Battlefield Elementary School in Spotsylvania County is seeking two volunteers to speak to students for Career Day at Battlefield Elementary School on Nov. 13.
The Turkey Trot and Xroads 12K racesare seeking seeking volunteers to wear the Molly or Miles Marathon costumes Nov.21 here.
