Healthy Kids Fun Run

The annual Marine Corps Marathon Healthy Kids Fun Run will be held Oct. 25. The race field for the one-mile run is open to children between the ages of 6-13. Participants will receive a t-shirt, medal and snacks at the finish line. For more information, visit www.marinemarathon.com.

Turkey Trot

Online registration for the Turkey Trot is now open to runners ages 6 and older. The event registration fee is $30 and includes all race materials, the official event shirt, finisher coin, bib, hospitality and more. Younger runners (ages 6-9) can register for just $5 as non-competitive runners and receive the same great services, including an event shirt. Children in the 6-9 age group categories will not be chip timed. The 6.2 mile course begins and ends at Butler Stadium. For more information, visit www. marinemarathon.com.

Terminating summer cooling and starting winter heating

Depending on weather conditions, cooling operations throughout Quantico will begin shutting down on or about Oct. 14. The shutdown of all facilities will take approximately 30 days. Once a building has been shut down, it will not be reactivated. Routine start-up of heating systems will begin on or about Nov. 3, also depending on weather conditions. Organizations having special requirements for early start-up are required to submit a written Work request form (NavFac 9-11014⁄20) with justification, to the Facilities and Logistics Services Section. Toys For Tots

Volunteer to help unload and sort the first shipment of toys arriving at the warehouse for this year’s campaign. Contact the Public Affairs Office at 703-784-2741 for more information.

Absentee Ballot

It may not be too late: go to the Federal Voting Assistance Program Web site at www.fvap.gov and request your absentee ballot today. It can be mailed or faxed. Make sure to check the absentee ballot deadline for your state. For more information, contact the base voting officer at 703-784-2151.

233rd Navy Birthday Celebration

The 233rd Navy Birthday Celebration ceremony will be held at the front entrance to the Main side Naval Medical Health Clinic during morning colors tomorrow, Oct. 10. All are welcome. Please be in the seats by 7:50 a.m. The traditional cake-cutting will take place inside the clinic on the quarterdeck immediately following the morning colors ceremony.
