Lincoln Military Housing offering leases on town homes at Dahlgren. Some 20 units are now available for occupancy.
Close your eyes and imagine – it’s 30 minutes until you have to arrive at work. You roll out of bed, shower, have some breakfast, double check your briefcase and get into the car. You drive to your job. When you get there, you sit down at your computer and realize – you’re 10 minutes early!

The nightmare commute can easily become a thing of the past for Department of Defense (DoD) employees that work at Dahlgren. Lincoln Military Housing (LMH), management company for housing units on base at Dahlgren, is offering leases on two-bedroom townhomes for DoD civilians, military retirees, single Sailors and Sailors in geo-bachelor status. Tenants would sign a six-month lease, and would also be the recipient of a $200 per month rent discount. This offer is only for housing units on base at Naval Support Facility Dahlgren.

Living on base offers a number of benefits. All utilities are included in monthly rent. Lawn care and landscaping are provided by LMH. Quality of Life facilities, such as the base pool, fitness center, Craftech and the base theater are just a short walk from the housing area. LMH also runs a number of programs each month for housing residents and their families, including trips, free tickets, contests, games and other events.

As an added bonus, children in grades Pre Kindergarten through Grade 8 may attend the DoD-run Dahlgren School. This benefit would not be extended to military retirees living in housing unless they are Department of Defense employees.

At least 20 units are available for occupancy immediately. Interested tenants would be required to undergo a credit check and a background check, and there would be some application fees and a security deposit. Once a tenant’s six-month lease expires, the lease automatically becomes a month-to-month lease.

‘‘This is a great opportunity for a young family,” said Tanya Kelly, Dahlgren site manager for LMH. ‘‘It’s convenient to work and the benefit of attending Dahlgren School is wonderful,” said Kelly.

Interested parties should contact the Lincoln Military Housing office at (540) 663-2190.
