Taylor was nominated by 2nd Company Executive Officer, Midn. 1⁄C Michael Eady.
‘‘Joe Taylor distinguishes himself as an outstanding leader everyday,” said Eady. ‘‘Taylor is known for his practical leadership, physical prowess, and his ability to relate to people. He demonstrates the highest sense of respect and tact in his interactions with all types of people.”
A squad leader from 2nd Company, Taylor said that he tries to keep the welfare of his fellow Midshipmen in mind as a leader.
‘‘I try to make sure that I put myself aside for everybody else,” said Taylor. ‘‘For the people in my squad this semester, I’ve tried to make sure I’ve put them first and take care of them.”
Taylor, a general engineering major from Montross, Va., cites his time on the varsity football team as especially formative.
‘‘Football teaches you all sorts of life lessons: perseverance, hard work, and definitely teamwork,” said Taylor. ‘‘It’s definitely taught me a lot of lessons that I apply to my leadership.”
Taylor hopes to service select Marines, and has already made a lasting impact on those around him.
‘‘Taylor is a natural leader and embodies the ideals of always completing the mission while taking care of his people at the same time,” said Eady.
