Hull Maintenance Technician 1st Class (SW) Todd Koletsky
Hull Maintenance Technician 1st Class (SW) Todd Koletsky is the Naval Academy Sailor of the Quarter for the 1st Quarter of the calendar year for 2008.
Koletsky reported to the Naval Academy in December 2007 after leaving La Maddalena, Italy, where he served aboard USS Emory S. Land (AS-39).
‘‘In 17 years of service I have never received any award that can match this one,” said Koletsky. ‘‘Only being here since the last week of December 2007, it was a wonderful surprise to find I was able to have such a profound enough effect on this command in such a short time to deserve nomination for such an award.”
Koletsky is the acting Chief Petty Officer for Hull Division and also the Waterfront Readiness Enlisted Watchbill Coordinator, responsible for the training, qualification, and assignment of 130 Sailors in six duty sections.
‘‘He is always there to lend a hand and assume higher responsibilities without even batting an eye,” said Chief Machinist’s Mate (SW) Jeffrey W. LeCuyer.
‘‘I want to set a good example for my Sailors,” said Koletsky. ‘‘I am paid to be the best Sailor possible, so I want to make sure the money I earn is deserved.”
Engineman 2nd Class (SW) Aaron Douglass
Engineman 2nd Class (SW) Aaron Douglass, chief engin-eer on Yard Patrol Craft (YP) 681, is the Naval Academy Junior Sailor of the Quarter for the first quarter of CY-08.
Douglass was nominated by his leading petty officer, Boats-wain’s Mate 1st Class (SW⁄AW) Jeffery Brooks, Craftmaster of YP 681.
‘‘Douglass is the reason this boat is running,” said Brooks. ‘‘He takes pride in making sure this boat is running so we can get underway and train the Midshipmen.”
Brooks said Douglass spends any extra time he has at work to help out other engineers.
‘‘Douglass is one of the more seasoned engineers we have and he puts that knowledge to good use,” said Brooks.
Douglas, a Colorado Springs, Colo., native, is also an active member of the community. He has volunteered more than 25 hours with the Boys and Girls Club of Annapolis, developing youths by providing them a positive role model. Douglass said that getting recognized for his hard work is a real career enhancer for him.
‘‘Receiving Junior Sailor of the Quarter is very exciting,” said Douglass. ‘‘My only goal is to work hard and get advanced. Getting this just makes me want to work harder.”

‘‘He sets a really high standard for YP crewmembers,” said Anderson. ‘‘He has a very big sense of ownership in YP-680.”
Shortly after joining the crew of YP-680, McMurry was selected as Leading Seaman for Squadron One, responsible for the daily muster and weekly boat reports for five craft. Additionally, McMurry has taken on many collateral duties, including Sexual Assault Victim Intervention (SAVI) advocate, Naval Academy Honor Guard⁄Funeral Detail and command Morale, Welfare, and Recreation representative.
