BOSS slates activities
Walter Reed Army Medical Center’s Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers is hosting a trip to New York City May 31. The bus departs from Wagner Sports Center at 6 a.m., and returns at 11 p.m. Attendees must be 18 or older. Sign-up is no later than May 23 and the bus seats only 45 people. Cost is $8. Motorcycle skills ride
The Walter Reed Installation Safety Office is sponsoring a Motorcycle Skills Ride on Monday at the Forest Glen Annex Post Exchange parking lot from 1 to 3 p.m. Bobbie Carlson, a certified instructor from the Motorcycle Safety Foundation will conduct this slow speed skills course event. The event will use a marked closed course to evaluate rider skills and discuss techniques to improve motorcycle handling in various situations. HIPAA training
Training regarding the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA is an annual requirement for Walter Reed employees. If you have not registered and completed HIPAA training, you must do so immediately using the link to the site https:⁄⁄mhslearn.csd.disa.mil. If you are registered in MHS Learn, you are required to complete your HIPAA refresher training annually during your birth month. Register and training can be done in Bldg. 1, Rm. Anger, stress management
How do you cool down before things heat up? One way is to participate in the Department of Social Work’s six-week anger and stress management group. The group is scheduled to meet from May 23 through June 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Borden Pavilion’s 4th floor DCI conference room.
Learn to manage anger, conflict, emotions, behavior and stress more effectively. Explore the benefits of calming down strategies through deep breathing, meditation and cognitive restructuring. Identify the impact of personal issues and stress on anger. Prevent anger and stress from controlling your life.

Wynonna Judd concert
A concert for WRAMC staff and patients featuring Wynonna Judd is May 22 from 2 to 2:45 p.m. in Walter Reed’s Wagner Sports Center. Doors open at 1 p.m. for the concert. The event will also include an opening act and other activities. The concert will be simulcast on WRAMC TV to the Mologne House and hospital.

The Joint Employment Transition Services (JETS) and the USO of Metropolitan Washington are hosting a job fair May 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fort Belvoir Officers’ Club, 5500 Schulz Circle, Fort Belvoir. Dozens of employers, including area police and fire departments, federal agencies, health care agencies, defense and government contractors, are participating to discuss job openings with candidates. The Walter Reed chaplain’s office will host a grief resolution management seminar Wednesday and May 16. The seminar is worth continuing education credits. The workshop will be conducted by Rev. Van to Silver Spring
The Mologne House courtesy van travels from the main installation to the front of the Silver Spring Mall Monday through Friday hourly from 5 to 10 p.m. The van departs from the Mologne House at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 p.m., and makes stops at Fenton Street.
Free babysitting services
Walter Reed’s Child and Youth Services now offers free babysitting services. CYS certifies all babysitters. Certification includes first aid and CPR training. Babysitters work in pairs to ensure safety. Call Pat Harris at (202) 271-1878, or CYS at (202) 782-0565.
