Enjoy “An Evening WithThe Romantics“
The Chesapeake Choral Arts Society, under the direction of Michael K. Santana will present “An Evening With The Romantics“ on Saturday, May 31, at 3 p.m.
The celebration of composers and works of the Romantic Era will include Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes (Opus 52), Goin' Home, from the New World Symphony by Dvorak, Verdi's Va, Pensiero, and Pilgrim's Chorus from Tannhauser by Wagner, among others.
The performance will be in the form of a “salon“ of the period and will include appearances by a number of important personae of the era. Concertgoers will enjoy performances by Jean DeReske, Edgar Allen Poe, Georges Sand, Jenny Lind, Chief Seattle, P.T. Barnum, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Queen Victoria, Beethoven, Liszt and Brahms.
“An Evening With The Romantics“ will be performed at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 3235 Leonardtown Rd., in Waldorf. A reception will follow the concert. Tickets, available at the door, are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
The Chesapeake Choral Arts Society is supported by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. Partial funding is also provided by the Charles County Arts Alliance whose mission is to stimulate, promote, encourage and provide recognition of the arts and the creative spirit. King George High School Bandsto Hold Auction
The King George High School Bands will hold a benefit auction at 6:30 p.m. on May 30 in the King George High School cafeteria. Items to be auctioned include a mini chopper electric bike, $100 Pampered Chef gift certificate, antique silver platters, Lia Sophia Jewelry, chopper bicycle, free haircut from The Hair Place and many more wonderful items! Free food & drink and live music will be provided. A $5 donation at the door will include five door prize tickets. ALL proceeds benefit the competitive events of KGHS Bands.

Children’s Aid Society PlansGolf Tournament
The Charles County Children’s Aid Society will hold a benefit golf tournament on May 16 at Swan Point Yacht & Country Club with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. All participants will receive free seated massages. Contests include $10,000 hole-in-one on all Par 3s, closest to the pin, putting contest, longest drive and more.
