Standard First Aid with CPR-Adult, Infant and Child: Cost is $65 for nonmilitary and $52 for military May 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Little Hall.
Dog⁄Cat First Aid: Cost is $35 for nonmilitary and $28 for military May 20 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Costello Park Recreation Center in Manassas Park. Class includes one book of chose. For an additional 10 dollars you may purchase the other book.
Infant and Child CPR: Cost is $55 for nonmilitary and $44 for military May 22 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Little Hall.
Babysitter’s Training: Cost is $50 for nonmilitary and $40 for military June 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Little Hall.
CPR⁄AED for the Professional Rescuer: Cost is $65 for nonmilitary and $52 for military June 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Little Hall. Students must bring pocket mask or one may be purchased for an additional $13.25.
Applications now accepted for NAACP award
Nominations for the 2008 NAACP Roy Wilkins Renown Service Award are now being accepted. Commanders and supervisors may nominate Marines or civilians for this award regardless of race or ethnicity. The award will be presented to one member from each of the military services during the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s convention July 12-17 in Cincinnati. NNOA host scholarship banquet
The Quantico Chapter of the National Naval Officers Association scholarship awards banquet is scheduled for May 31 from 6 to 11 p.m. at The Clubs at Quantico.
This year the chapter will award $10,000 in scholarships to high school students who attend school in the Prince William, Stafford, and Spotsylvania counties. The guest speaker for the event will be Jamie Harrison, Director of Floor Operations and Council for Majority Whip, U.S. House of Representatives.

Mother, Son dance is scheduled for May 30
Marine Corps Community Services is sponsoring a ‘‘Mother and Son Dance” at The Clubs at Quantico May 30 from 7 to 10 p.m. There will be a light buffet, dancing and giveaways. Rikki’s Refuge holds open house
Rikki’s Refuge, a no-kill shelter largely powered by volunteers from Quantico, welcomes all visitors during a tour May 18 starting at 1 p.m., at State Route 20 on Barr Lane in Orange. Free vehicle inspections offered
Marine Corps Community Services is offering free Memorial Day vehicle inspections May 21-22 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Auto Hobby Skills Center.
The inspections are offered to active duty service members and their family members only. Inspections are performed on a first-come, first-served basis and last 20 to 30 minutes depending on the made and model of the vehicle. Patrons must stay with vehicle. Copy of inspection results will be given to patron when inspection is completed.
