Semper Fit Health Promotion is hosting their 11th Annual Women’s Health Expo at The Clubs at Quantico May 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The purpose of this event is to increase overall awareness of women’s health issues; provide women with a hands-on forum for obtaining accurate and up-to-date information; and encourage women to take responsibility for their own health.

The free seminar is open to active duty, retirees, family members, civilians, and contractors at Quantico.

Keynote attraction

SpiritWorks of Virginia’s Meditative Labyrinth promoting relaxation, breathing awareness, and the release of stress, which in turn positively impacts the health and wellness of the whole being. Also available will be Yoga, reflexology, and ball therapy. The theme of the Expo is ‘‘Health Begins Inside.” Walk SpiritWorks Labyrinth for a chance to win a weekend getaway to Solitude Farm Bed and Breakfast in Roanoke.

Subject area experts

Over 30 vendor tables will be available, with subject experts answering questions in their area of expertise. Vendors such as Ask the Semper Fit Dietitian, Uniquely Designed Coaching, 4 Women.gov, and Skin Appeal of Stafford will allow you to talk directly to an expert and get answers to your health related concerns.

Screenings<P> Screenings will include Bone Density, a quick non-invasive sonometer screen to check the local mineral bone density in the heel of your foot, blood pressure check, dental and vision screens, and Chiropractic offering in chair mini massage. The Mary Washington Hospital mobile mammography van will be available on the premises the day of the expo and pre-screening appointments can be made by calling (800) 283-3926.

Information vendor tables

The information will focus on health promotion, prevention, and wellness for women of all ages. Topics will include areas such as nutrition, breast cancer, injury prevention, hypertension control, cholesterol control, peri-menopause, diabetes, stress management, spirituality, tobacco cessation, substance abuse, sexual health, exercise⁄fitness, self-defense, and more.

Light refreshments will be provided, and there will be drawings for give away products.
