Jim Farrell from Air Vehicle Maintenance and Instrumentation discussed the work in his department, and potential career opportunities with the students.
In an effort to connect with students early in their education and career path planning, NAWCAD engineers Ted Delbo and Jim Farrell from the Aircraft Vehicle Modification and Instrumentation (AVMI) facility of the Range Department have been working with the Dr. James Forrest Career and Technology Center to provide enhanced student and teacher opportunities. The engineering, manufacturing and aviation maintenance teachers were provided an in-depth look at the mechanical solutions and instrumentation areas, and then followed on with a comprehensive student tour.
Farrell and Delbo, along with Buddy Beal from the Atlantic Test Range, Darrel Tenney representing the Becker Materials Laboratory, Ron Grimes from Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test, and Avionics Department representatives Henry Burger and Jerry Burroughs also participated in a job fair program organized by the Center. Students were given ‘‘mock” interviews, then provided a constructive critique. Many of the students are college bound in engineering programs and have been hired for summer jobs.
