Navy Band Silent Auction for NMCRS

The U.S. Navy Band Silent Auction to benefit the 2008 Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Fund Drive will take place today from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Washington Navy Yard Town Center (Food Court).

Here is a sample of what will be up for auction:

- A chance to conduct the Navy Band in “Anchors Aweigh“ at a summer concert at the U.S. Capitol
- A Calypso band performance
- An authentic home-cooked Italian dinner for four
- A day of sailing on the Chesapeake Bay

And much more...come bid on some fantastic items and donate to a worthy charity!

Free home buying workshop

The Naval Support Activity Washington Housing Welcome Center in bldg. 414, Naval Support Facility Anacostia, will conduct a free homebuyers’ workshop May 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. All new and repeat homebuyers are encouraged to sign up.

Attendees will hear first-hand from industry experts who discuss the home buying process, from the application to the closing. The workshop covers topics like: knowing when to buy; where to look; what financing options are available; taking advantage of tax write-offs; and how much home can one afford?

All participants are encouraged to bring a guest. Pre-registration is requested due to limited seating, call (202) 433-0346 or email michael.lipscomb1@navy.mil for more information or to reserve a seat.

The following AAA Driver Improvement Program (DIP) and motorcycle safety classes are scheduled at Washington Navy Yard (WNY) or NSF Anacostia:

MY BIZ update!

MY BIZ self-service human resources (HR) tools are now available to everyone.

HR Service Center is pleased to announce the launch of a new feature of the Defense Civilian Personnel Data System (DCPDS), MY BIZ. MY BIZ is a web-based self-service HR option that allows Department of Navy appropriated fund employees to access information from their official personnel records.

MY BIZ features information related to your employment organized under categories such as appointment, position, personal, salary, etc. It also allows you to update certain personal information, including phone number, E-mail address, foreign language proficiency and more.

In addition there is a ‘‘favorites” category in MY BIZ that contains links to several Web sites such as Office of Personnel Management (OPM), My Pay and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP). MY BIZ provides employees with important human resources, compensation and benefits information in one account.

Employees are strongly encouraged to review the DCPDS Self Service Tutorials for MY BIZ at www.cpms.osd.mil⁄regmod⁄selfservice⁄selfservice.html prior to establishing a password or accessing their account.
