Volunteer Readers ⁄ Speakers For the CDC
The Child Development Program at Naval Support Activity Annapolis has a Guest Reader⁄Guest Speaker Program at the center and needs volunteers to participate with the preschool age children. Volunteers read a simple story from books provided by the CDC staff or one of their own favorite children’s book. Reading sessions are held twice a month in the morning, usually during the first and third weeks of the month. A reading session lasts about 10 - 15 minutes and is arranged to meet the volunteer’s and children’s schedules. The center is also looking for guest speakers who would be willing to visit the center and ‘‘show and tell” the children what they do everyday. Volunteers can range from home-makers to helicopter pilots. For more infor-mation call the CDC Training and Curriculum Specialist at 410-293-9391.
