MWR will have the following special events on Tuesday to celebrate the 65th anniversary of NAS Pax River:
65¢ bowling shoe rental – This commemorative shoe rental goes from 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the bowling center located inside the drill hall.
Free Pax River 65th anniversary 5K Run⁄3K Walk – Join the 5K Run⁄3K Walk starting at 10 a.m. at the Beach House. Prizes will be awarded to the first place 5K run in the male and female divisions. All hands and their family members are eligible. Register at the Information Tickets and Tours office. This event is free. However for those who would like a T-shirt the price is $6.50. Free movie – Enjoy August Rush at 6:30 p.m. in the station theater. MWR will be serving 65¢ small popcorn and 65¢ small fountain sodas.
April Pool Day – Make a splash at the indoor pool with April Pool Day. For this initiative, MWR is reaching out to children and families to educate them on the importance of water safety awareness and draw positive attention to the health and lifestyle benefits the sport of swimming has to offer. This is event is free and will be held from 5 - 6 p.m. For more information call 301-757-1293.
65¢ hot dog – Enjoy a hot dog for lunch for only 65¢ at the Patuxent Landing Restaurant, Cedar Point Officers’ Club and Eddies I, II and III.
65-minute fitness class – Try out a circuit training class in the drill hall from noon - 1:05 p.m. Work your whole body in a fun group fitness class. This event is free. For more information, call 301-995-3869.
$65 lodging rentals – Call to make a reservation now for a lodging unit at Navy Recreation Center Solomons. Pick from bungalows, apartments, log cabins and cozy cabins. Reservations can be made by calling 410-286-7301⁄2 or by visiting the NRC Lodging Office.
Visit ITT office to win a prize – Be the 65th customer in the ITT office and you could win a prize valued at $65. Only one winner throughout the day will be awarded. Stop in for details and a chance to win.
65 children singing Happy Birthday – The Children and Youth Program will have a special surprise for Pax River Commanding Officer Capt. Glen Ives. Who knows you might even hear their voices throughout the station!
