Easter Festival

The annual St. Mary’s County Easter Festival will be Saturday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Leonard Hall Recreation Center in Leonardtown. Among the events are a traditional egg hunt and decorating contest, pony rides, carnival attractions, games and face painting. Many activities are free of charge and some have a small fee. Maryland Day

The annual Maryland Day observance in St. Mary’s County will be Tuesday, 5 p.m. on the riverside lawn of St. Clement’s Island Museum in Colton’s Point. Winners of the 2007 Snapshots of St. Mary’s Photo Contest will also be announced. For more information, call 301-769-2222.

Piano recital

The Italian piano duo of Roberto Metro and Elvira Foti will give a four-hand piano recital Wednesday, 8 p.m. in the Auerbach Auditorium of St. Mary’s Hall at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. For more information about the free concert, call 240-895-4498.

Wii Can Play, Too

Rugby players needed

Literacy tutor training

The Literacy Council of St. Mary’s will hold a free, 12-hour workshop to train adults to be volunteer tutors March 31 and April 2 and 4. All dates are 5 - 9 p.m. at the Lexington Park Library. Call 301-863-4847 for more information.

Indoor Model Flying

A small group of airplane hobbyists flies rubber-powered free-flight models on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Spring Ridge Middle School. Call Rich at 301-863-7350 for more information.

Dance Benefits Special Olympics

Special Olympics of St. Mary’s County will hold the second annual ‘‘Escape to Key West” dance Saturday at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department. It will feature the Key West Band playing Jimmy Buffett-style Caribbean rock and roll music. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for dinner, with the concert starting at 8 p.m. Seating is not reserved. There will be a cash bar, door prizes and carnival games. This is a pirate-themed event and there will be a prize for the best costume. Advance tickets are $40 (cash⁄check only) and include dinner. Tickets at the door are $45. All proceeds directly support Special Olympics in St. Mary’s County. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 301-481-6993.
