Chaplain (Maj. Gen.) Douglas L. Carver, chief of Army chaplains, will be guest speaker at Walter Reed Army Medical Centerís 82nd Annual Easter Sunrise Service, 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the Wagner Sports Center.
The nondenominational service will be televised on WRAMC-TV Channel 33.
Bus pick-up for ambulatory patients will be from the Heaton Pavilionís second-floor lobby from 6:45 to 7:25 a.m. Sunday. Transportation back to the Heaton Pavilion will be available following the service.
Carver began his career as a field artilleryman and became the Armyís top chaplain last year. Heís earned theology degrees from the University of Tennessee and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was commissioned in the field artillery, and served in various artillery jobs with 4th Infantry Division. He subsequently left active duty and for five years served with the Army Reserve. Upon returning to active duty in 1984, he attended the Chaplain Corps officer basic course and began his career in the chaplaincy.
