Weightman relieved of command

Maj. Gen. George W. Weightman was relieved of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center command yesterday.

‘‘I thank all of you for the professional support and dedication that you have brought to all our issues, and I am confident that you will continue to do a great job as we work our separate lanes to enhance Warrior Care at WRAMC,” Weightman wrote in an e-mail to the WRAMC staff yesterday.

‘‘You are a great team and I have been honored to work with you,” he added.

Weightman assumed command of WRAMC Aug. 25, 2006.

Lt. Gen. Kevin C. Kiley, the Army surgeon general and commander of U.S. Army Medical Command, will assume WRAMC command until the service names a new commander.
