The Installation Personnel Administrative Center is scheduled to move its 125 Marines and civilians into nine trailers near Building 2006 in March due to renovations on the building.
To accommodate Marines in the limited amount of space provided by the trailers, IPAC is encouraging Marines to use Electronic Personnel Action Request to complete certain administrative tasks and keep traffic light during construction.
‘‘Instead of having Marines drive here from [other parts of base], they can send requests viae-mail or fax to reduce foot traffic,” said Chief Warrant Officer 3 Reeshema Walker, the IPAC deputydirector. ‘‘In the summer time we have a lot of customers in new-joins and out-bounds sections. We’re working with our [The Basic School] attachment and other locations around here as far as trying to find space to do mass check-ins. We are looking at different ways not to put so much stress on the customer and make it more customer friendly.”
EPAR, a function of Marine Online, allows Marines to submit information for awards, BasicAllowance for Housing, Basic Allowance for Sustenance, promotions and other tasks.
Walker is also encouraging Marines to walk to IPAC if administrative work cannot be completed electronically.
‘‘Parking is going to be really tight,” Walker said. ‘‘We are looking at different ways that we can try and reduce the traffic so Marines don’t have to spend an hour looking for parking or stand outside because the trailers are so limited on space.”
IPAC is scheduled to spend one year in the trailers as Building 2006 is gutted and refitted with a new elevator, armory, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning and other renovations.
‘‘If it’s a year, a year and a half or two years we’re still going to be in place,” Walker said. ‘‘We havecapable people and personnel and the assets to support no matter how long we have to stay there.”
Marines can contact IPAC Customer Support at 784-2434 to determine whether their administrative needs can be completed electronically, and if so, what documents they will need to send. Additional IPAC information can be found in the newsletter posted on their Web site accessible under the Base Activities link at www.quantico.usmc.mil.
