DOT transit vouchers
A representative from the Department of Transportation will hold up make-up distribution ofNational Capital Region Transit subsidy vouchers on Feb. 17 from 9 a.m. to noon in Lejeune Hall (quarterdeck), Building 3250. Committee seeks volunteers
Marine Corps Base Quantico is seekingvolunteers to be a part of the Special EmphasisObservance Committee.

This committee will be responsible for developing cultural events and activities that promote awareness and provide recognition to those occasions established and commemorated throughout DOD. Iwo Jima anniversary planned
Iwo Jima Veterans, their families, military educators, historians and students of military history, will commemorate the 65th Anniversary of this heroic landing from Feb. 18 – 21 in Arlington and at the National Museum of the Marine Corps.

Author signs book Saturday
The Marine Corps Association will host retired Col. Timothy J. Geraghty, author of Peacekeepers at War: Beirut 1983 — The Marine Commander Tells His Story at a book signing Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at theMarine Shop. MCA book signing⁄meet the author events are open to the public, free of charge and provide the opportunity to meet and chat with the author, and to have copies of the author’s books autographed. Ground Logistics Awards Dinner Feb. 11
The Marine Corps Association Foundation, incoordination with Headquarters Marine CorpsInstallations and Logistics Division, will host the 6th Annual MCAF Ground Logisitics Awards Dinner at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington on Feb.11.

The dinner serves as the annual opportunity to recognize the professional achievements of the Corps’ top performing logisticians. Guest speaker is Gen. James T. Conway, commandant of the Marine Corps. Cost to attend the event is $45 for MCA members and $55 for non-Members. The cost ofautomobile parking at the hotel is included in the cost. Literacy group seeks volunteers
Adult students are waiting to be matched with volunteer tutors to improve reading and writing skills. Literacy Volunteers of America — Prince William is a non-profit organization offering free tutoring to adults. Previous experience is not necessary.
