FRG Survey

Annapolis Area Complex families will receive Needs Assessment questionnaires in the mail over the coming week to assist in establishing the Annapolis Area Family Readiness Group (FRG). The assessment is a brief, online survey that will take less than five minutes to complete, and will assist the FRG Advisory Committee in establishing a responsive and relevant FRG. The assessment is anonymous and completely voluntary, and will provide vital information about the needs of Annapolis military families. The survey is available online at http:⁄⁄www.usna.edu⁄IR⁄FRG⁄ through Feb. 8.

NHC Annapolis Travel Screening Process

Upon recommendation from regional public health authorities, in order to provide appropriate standard of care, all beneficiaries (including Midshipmen) traveling to countries where a travel screening is recommended should make an appointment at the NNMC Bethesda Travel Medicine Clinic. Appointments must be scheduled at least one month in advance in order to ensure all potentially required prophylaxis is administered prior to travel. It takes on average one week to get an appointment. Appointments will be seen on an individual basis. Appointments can be made by calling 301-295-6400 X6.

The following countries do not require travel screenings (although, ensure routine immunizations are current).

Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Caribbean islands (except Haiti and Dominican Republic) Diego Garcia, Guam, Iceland, United Kingdom, Ireland, Japanese mainland (excluding Okinawa), Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland), Western Europe (Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Switzerland, & Netherlands).

Women’s Club Luncheon

The Naval Academy Women’s Club presents their Past Presidents⁄Author Luncheon on Feb. 13 at 11:30 a.m. This event will take place at Northwoods Restaurant, 609 Melvin Ave., Annapolis, and costs $27. The Luncheon will feature guest speaker Capt. Rick Rubel, the first Distinguished Military Professor of Ethics, and current course director of the Core Ethics Course. The Naval Academy Women’s Club is a non-profit organization which serves to foster an atmosphere encouraging closer relationships among its members.

Business Writing Seminar

This seminar focuses on key skills and short fun exercises to give you immediate improvement on your writing ability. You will learn where to start, what to look for and what common errors to avoid. The class is taught by Pamela Thorne from People Skills Consulting. Pamela is an expert in the topic of Business Writing nd is an advocate of Plain Language. The seminar will be held on Feb. 5 in Halligan Hall, 2nd floor classroom, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To register call x35370.

NMCRS Volunteers Needed

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society will soon be forced to reduce local office hours to one day a week unless new volunteers come forward. Volunteers can be active duty, E-6 and above, retired, or their adult family members. Training will be provided, and mileage and child care expenses will be reimbursed upon request. NMCRS assists eligible Navy and Marine families with grants or interest-free loans for temporary emergencies such as food, rent⁄mortgage, utilities, essential car repairs, E-Leave, medical⁄dental co-pays, and other unexpected family emergencies. The office is in the FFSC building at 348 Kinkaid Rd. and current hours are 0900-1300 Tuesdays & Thursdays. Income Tax Assistance

Starting Feb. 4., Midshipmen, active-duty or retired service members, and their family members can stop by the Levy Center (Room 206) or Bldg. 15 on Naval Support Activity Annapolis between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for free assistance in filing their federal income taxes. MWR Seeking Exercise Instructors

MWR Fitness (Naval Support Activity Annapolis) is currently seeking certified, licensed group exercise leaders to lead lunch time classes from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in Lejeune Hall at the U.S. Naval Academy.
