Midn. 2⁄C Anthony J. Valliere
Midn. 2⁄C Anthony J. Valliere, age 21, passed away Jan. 26 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A native of Palatine, Ill., Valliere was a mechanical engineering major assigned to 25th Company. Valliere played on the sprint football team his first two years at the Academy, and served with the Drum and Bugle Corps as a plebe. He was elected as the team leader for the 2009 Formula SAE car, which the team built from the ground up. Within his Company, Valliere was known for his willingness to help tutor classmates, and according to his Senior Enlisted Leader, ''more than one person has said they owe half of their grade point average to Valliere.'' Valliere will be laid to rest in the Naval Academy Cemetery Feb. 7.
