Army Family Action Plan conference nears

The Walter Reed Army Medical Centerís Army Family Action Plan (AFAP) conference is scheduled for Tuesday starting at 8 a.m. in the MWR Conference Room in Delano Hall (Bldg 11).

The AFAP is a grassroots, Army-wide initiative to identify and prioritize issues to enhance standards of living for Soldiers and their Families.

AFAP is the process used to identify the most critical well-being issues facing the Army today and present them to senior Army leadership for resolution.

AFAP is the mechanism to influence quality of life changes by alerting Army leadership to well-being concerns.

Issues are collected at the installation level, reviewed and prioritized by selected delegates, and then forwarded for consideration at the U.S. Army Medical Command AFAP Region Level Conference held March 2008 in San Antonio, Texas.

Delegates are selected based upon WRAMCís demographics. Delegatesí role within the AFAP process is to represent the Army Family, identify issues, and recommend solutions. Duties and responsibilities are:

  • Discuss issue implications and ramifications within workgroup.

  • Obtain information from Subject Matter Expert assigned to the workgroup.

  • Respect and listen to other workgroup members.

  • Stay objective; keep an open mind.
