DoD civilians can use Navy Exchanges to buy food

E-Mail This Article Print This Story
Forget to bring lunch?

Want to stay on base to satisfy hunger? Need a haircut?

Well, civilian DoD workers in a duty status at both Naval Support Facilities Indian Head and Dahlgren can use the Navy Exchange to purchase food items and non-alcoholic beverages under an agreement just approved by the Navy. They can also use the barbershop.

Such food items include frozen dinners, sandwiches, snacks, canned goods such as soups and meat products, and packaged items. Beverages include everything (soft drinks, milk and tea) with the exception of alcohol.

The agreement that allows civilian workers to purchase food items at the exchanges however is limited to Dept. of Defense workers only (excludes contractors) and only to exchanges at Naval Support Facilities Indian Head and Dahlgren—civilians are not allowed to use exchanges at other Navy bases.

The agreement will be reviewed annually.
