Sgt. Tracy Renee Birkman, 41, of New Castle, Va., died Jan. 25 in Owesat, Iraq, from non-combat related injuries.The exact cause of death is still being determined. She was assigned to the 626th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Air-borne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky. This was her third deployment. Birkman, a light- wheel vehicle mechanic, was the mother of three. Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear ordered flags at state office buildings flown at half staff in honor of the Soldier.
