Quantico’s offense proves too much for Naval Station Anacostia to handle Sunday at Barber Physical Activity Center.
The Quantico Marines defeated Naval Station Anacostia 76 – 62 Sunday at Barber Physical Activity Center, adding another victory following their conquest ofthe Warriors of Walter Reed Army Medical Centeron Saturday.

Quantico’s offense ignited the scoreboard in the first half. NSA trailed the Marines 41 – 15 at halftime, thanks to a lackluster defense.

Quantico head coach, Lt. Col. James Jones, bore a serious countenance, despite leading NSA by a formidable 26 points. His face seemed to say that, just because his Marines walked off the court victorious the previous day, he would not tolerate complacency in any form.

The game began in earnest during the second half, as NSA struggled to close the gap with Quantico. The referee’s whistle became a chorus as both teams vied fordominance on the court, and a majority of points scored were accumulated by foul shots alone.

However, Quantico was up by as many as 51 points with 12 minutes left in the game.

It was clear the Marines were toying with their opponents as the game drew to an end. The offense wassurgical in its placement of the ball, securing a slam dunk during the waning minutes of the second half, a gesture that seemed to drive the point home that NSA would not walk away the victors of the game.
