Quantico’s 5-foot, 6-inch guard Swanson does a one-handed tomahawk during the game against the Harlem Rockets.
Well, the Harlem Rockets are still undefeated, with over 2,400 wins in the past 14 years, but the winner was still Quantico, especially the 200 or so kids, parents, Marines and sailors who filled the stands.

The 10th Annual Harlem Rockets Comedy Basketball Show, held Tuesday in a packed Barber Physical Activity Center, was a roaring success, with dunks, half-court shots, and practical jokes; it was a unique combination of basketball skills, comedy and audience participation.

Adding even more enthusiasm to the event, their opponents came from the local community -- the Quantico Men’s Varsity basketball team. And even though Quantico fell 77-63, the sheer joy and amazement on all the little faces that filled the gym was more than worth it, especially when they headed to the floor to do ‘‘Soulja Boy” with Rockets forward Chris ‘‘Chicken” Turnquest.†

It was more than basketball – it was a chance to join great skills and humor together, and put the fun back into sports.
