IPAC⁄DISBO (1-7) power forward⁄center Joshua Ward picks his way through the OCS (7-1) defense. Even though the OCS squad lost that 2-point battle, they won the war, ending the game with a 21-point margin of victory, 49-28.
Quantico’s intramural league basketball squads have had two days off to think about what’s been happening. On Monday night they celebrated the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and on Tuesday evening the Harlem Rockets overran Barber Physical Fitness Center to entertain the fans.
Those two days have given the teams a chance to regroup. On the National League side, they no longer have to wonder if a team can go undefeated, because OCS (7-1) finally lost one, although they made up for it with a 21-point Thursday night victory against IPAC (1-7), a team that’s considered the perfect pill for a loss.
Then TECOM (4-5) fell below .500 against the 2-7 MCATSU squad 53-45, so now MCATSU no longer has to worry about winning just one game. Of course, MCATSU’s next game is against 7-1 OCS, so now they might be asking if two wins will be it.
On the last game of last week’s National League card, MSG, now 4-5, avenged an earlier 2-point loss to the 5-4 HMX squad with a 2-point win of their own, 48-46. MSG has won their last three while HMX looks to be going backward, losing three of their last four . Ouch! Luckily, they’re playing the 1-7 IPAC squad next.
In the American League match ups, HSBN (6-1) beat down the 2-5 AIB team by 23, a 64-41 drubbing.
Then the only undefeated team left in either league, TBS (7-0) fought a tight battle against the 4-3 MARSH squad, eking out a 50-48 victory. But not to worry; all you need to stay undefeated is to score just one more point than the other team.
The last game of the night had two teams with similar records going head-to-head, with SCTY BN (3-4) edging out COMM (3-4) with a 49-45 final. SCTY BN next plays the 4-3 MARSH squad, while COMM gets the chance to beat up on the 2-5 AIB team.
