Andrews Air Force Base, Md.

Dear Friends,

As Governor of Maryland, allow me to take a moment to welcome you to Andrews Air Force Base.

Andrews is referred to as the “Gateway to our Nation’s Capital“ and is home to Air Force One. The base is the largest employer in Prince George’s County and also one of the largest in the State of Maryland. Since 1943, Andrews has contributed greatly to state and nation wide historical traditions, including the June 2004 State Funeral for President Ronald Reagan, the 40th president of the United States. It was the first State Funeral in the National Capital Region for a United States president in 31 years.

Maryland offers a wealth of diversity in its geography, attractions and people. Whether you are new to the State, new to Andrews or transiting the base, I invite you to visit www.visitmaryland.org and explore all that Maryland has to offer.

On behalf of the citizens of Maryland, thank you to our Armed Forces for serving our state and our nation so proudly!

Very truly yours,

Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr.

Governor, State of Maryland
