The Directorate of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (DMWR) at Fort Meade is comprised of 21 programs that range from Child Care to Automotive Skills; intramural sports to spousal Army Family Team Building. The Fort Meade MWR continually strives to offer quality programs to service members, retirees and DoD civilians and their families. We want to be your first choice when it comes to child care, fitness, recreation – indoor and outdoor and dining. In the following sections, we profile each of our programs. We look forward to serving you.

If you want up-to-the minute information on special events; or to check the hours of operation of a certain MWR facility, or information on a weekend escape, go to MWR’s web site http:⁄⁄www.ftmeademwr.com. You can do it all with just one visit to the unofficial site for the Fort Meade MWR program. You can even write us if you can’t find your answer. There is lots of great AND useful information. Visit us and tell us what you think!

Arts & Crafts

The Fort Meade Arts and Crafts Program is located in the Thomas Jenkins Center on York Avenue behind the fire station on Mapes Road. The center is a multi-purpose facility which houses the Framing and Engraving Shops, the Woodshop and our large ceramics operation. Hours vary per activity, most are open on the weekend. The new Stivers Art Gallery features a wide selection of military action prints for sale. The subject matter varies from the Buffalo Soldier-era up to the current Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) effort and all significant military actions in between. If you don’t see what you want, we will order it for you. All prints are signed and numbered and may be purchased framed or unframed.

The Center has a very large ceramics operation with a kiln and store on site. Classes are available for youth and adults.
