Aglow International
Aglow International is a trans-denominational organization of Christian women with more than 4,000 local groups in 164 nations of the world. It is one of the largest international women’s organizations with over 1,100 local groups in the U.S. alone. Association of the United States Army (Fort Meade Chapter) AUSA works to support all aspects of national security while advancing the interests of America’s Army and the men and women who serve it. AUSA is a private, non-profit educational organization that supports America’s Army – Active, National Guard, Reserve, civilians, retirees and family members. Battle of the Bulge Historical Foundation Group meets twice a year and primarily sponsors an annual commemoration dinner to honor the memory of the battle. Catholic Women of the Chapel (CWOC) The Catholic Women of the Chapel (CWOC) provides fellowship to women of the Catholic faith. Ducks Unlimited(Fort Meade Chapter) Ducks Unlimited meets at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 and on the second Tuesday of each month at Perry’s Restaurant in Odenton. Ducks Unlimited is a grassroots, volunteer-based organization. Its members are conservationists and lovers of the outdoors who live throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. Wives of active duty or retired enlisted personnel in grades E-1 through E-9, all branches of service, are eligible to join the club. Meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Enlisted Spouses clubhouse located at 3182 MacArthur Road. All meetings, parties and group activities are published in the Soundoff! and on Meade TV. The Enlisted Spouses Club offers college scholarships annually to children of active duty or retired personnel E-1 through E-9 whose family resides in the Fort Meade area. The membership consists of the adult members for the families of all officers (active duty, reserve, retired and warrant) or DoD employees (GS-9 and above). Club luncheons are held on the third Wednesday of each month. Dates of the luncheon, parties and group activities are published in the weekly post newspaper, Soundoff!, OWC newsletter ‘‘Chit-chat,” and other local publications. Group activities include sightseeing, lectures, classes and other activities in which there is sufficient interest.The Officers’ Wives’ Club offers scholarships on an annual basis to high school seniors and contributes to community projects such as scout programs, Post Nursery, Army Community Service and local schools. Membership is open to all active duty, retired, civilian personnel and families in the Fort Meade community, regardless of their service affiliation. The club provides informative programs on gardening, plants, flower arranging and landscaping, as well as spectacular refreshments and the opportunity to meet new people in the community. The group also sponsors trips to events like the Philadelphia Flower Show. Dues are $20 per year and include a monthly newsletter, monthly meetings and discounts on trips. Greenhouse The Greenhouse offers indoor and outdoor plants, vegetables and herbs for sale every Spring. In addition, staff members are available to assist customers with horticultural questions and concerns. The Greenhouse is co-sponsored by the Directorate of Morale, Welfare and Recreation and The Meade Area Post Garden Club. For more information, call (301) 677-5590. Military Officers Association of America (Fort Meade Chapter) MOAA is the nation’s largest and most influential association of military officers. It is an independent, nonprofit, politically nonpartisan organization that has chapters world wide. The association plays an active role in military personnel matters and proposes legislation affecting the career force, the retired community, and veterans of the uniformed services. MOAA meets at Club Meade at least quarterly and hosts a wide variety of guest speakers and interesting programs. Key legislative initiatives are supported by many dedicated members. Support from current and potential members is critical to retention and the improvement of current and future benefits and for enhancing quality of life programs. It provides books and materials for students to learn about the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and our flag. Outstanding future leaders get an education that helps to keep alive our national heritage and free enterprise system. MOWW conducts monthly meetings at Club Meade for its companions, interested potential members and friends of the Order. Chapters are the backbone of the Order and hold regular meetings to engage in a dialogue on issues of national importance, and to plan for the Order’s outreach programs to include of Boys Scouts, Girls Scouts, ROTC⁄JROTC programs, Massing of the Colors, support of memorial services, and patriotic education programs for the Nation’s youth. National Sojourners The National Sojourners is a Masonic organization composed of past and present commissioned officers, warrant officers and senior noncommissioned officers (E-7, E-8 and E-9), who are currently master Masons. The Retired Enlisted Association (TREA) The Retired Enlisted Association is open to all retired enlisted and active duty members with 10 or more years of service. Retired Officers’ Wives’ Club The Retired Officers’ Wives’ Club is open to retired officers of all branches of the military services and their spouses, and widows and widowers of retired officers. Retiree Council Fort Meade Retiree Council - Made up of military retirees, widows and widowers. The council’s objective is to voice the concerns of retirees to the Installation Commander, help institute programs that will create a strong communication link between the Active Army and the retired community, receive advice on, analyze and provide input on those decisions, policies and laws that affect the retired community, and to communicate with the active Army. Rod & Gun Club The Fort Meade Rod & Gun Club has been in existence under its current organization since 1992 and in various forms since the early 1970’s. The Club has a proud history of teaching marksmanship and shooting competitively. The Club is a National Rifle Association (NRA) Affiliated club and a Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) affiliated club. CMP Club No. 71115. The Club meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Outdoor Adventure Center (Bldg. T4). The Ft. Meade Rod & Gun Club conducts NRA firearm training courses, Civilian Marksmanship Program Marksmanship Clinics, Fishing Rodeos and a variety of other related activities. Toastmasters – Generally Speaking (Fort Meade Chapter) Whether you’re a professional, student, stay-at-home parent or retiree, Toastmasters is the best way to improve your communication skills. Toastmasters can help you lose the fear of public speaking and learn skills that will help you be more successful in whatever path in life you’ve chosen. Membership is for individuals age 18 or older. No military or government affiliation is required for membership. Those without a DoD ID card must meet the requirements for access to the installation, which may vary depending on the force protection level. Visitors are always welcome at meetings.
