If the Call Center does not have appointments available for what the patient thinks is an urgent problem, they will transfer the call to the patient’s primary care manager’s triage nurse. The triage nurse will facilitate an urgent referral, if required, which will allow the patient to go to a civilian provider. The nurse will specify which civilian care provider to which the caller is authorized care. If urgent care is needed after 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, weekends, or holidays, call KACC’s Answering Service at (800) 585-1359. The Answering Service will contact the primary care manager. If you are traveling out of state and need urgent care call (877) 874-2273 (tricare). If a patient obtains civilian medical care without an urgent care referral, out-of-pocket expenses could be incurred.
