Roosevelt who saw the spring-fed pond on the land and wasreminded of the Biblical ‘‘Pool of Bethesda,” a place of healing and renewal. Since its dedication in 1942, NNMC has been providing world-class, state-of-the-art patient and family centered health care to military members, their families, and many of our Nation’s leaders,including the President of the United States. It is known as the ‘‘Flagship of Navy Medicine” and ‘‘the President’s Hospital.”
The services offered at NNMC are specially designed to promote ‘‘Patient and Family-Centered Care;” an approach to the planning, delivery and evaluation of health care to encourage partnerships between our providers and our patients and their families.

The Adolescent Medicine Service provides primary care enrollment of adolescents in the National Capital Region and welcome consultations on all Military Health System adolescent beneficiaries from primary care providers, or other health care professions.

The Health Readiness Department oversees the Individual Medical Readiness (IMR) program designed to ensure service members assigned to National Naval Medical Center have completed annual medical readiness requirements
