Comprint Military Publications prints these newspapers and base guides under contract with the bases, and also hosts said content on this web site, dcmilitary.com.
Therefore, while Comprint Military Publications web support staff is authorized to correct blatant typographical errors as well as its own errors of ommission in posting content to this site, military base editors/newspaper personnel are responsible for errors in fact, and thus any content corrections must be approved by military personnel. Comprint Military Publications web staff does not have the authority to make changes of substance.
If you find an error in a story, please e-mail jrives@gazette.net, who will pass the information on to the newspaper or guide editor.
General Information
Information listed on this site is intended for military personnel stationed in the Washington, D.C., area and for those who will be stationed in the area. For this reason, information is not always complete due to Department of Defense (DoD) requirements. Some examples are described below.
A site is not available to general users. If a warning message appears informing a user that the site is only available to authorized personnel, the user SHOULD NOT continue within that site. This site's information is posted and processed in a program which automatically makes the site a live link.
Telephone directories are not published on dcmilitary.com even if they have been printed in a newspaper or base guide. The printed publications are distributed to military personnel at and around related bases. The information IS NOT intended for general public use; it is intended only for personnel who have been, or expect to be, transferred to this area.
Whenever visiting any military site, please read the DoD warning and links disclaimers at each site. It is important to adhere to the information provided. Failing to do so can result in criminal prosecution.
When a live link directs a user to a web site that is not part of DCMilitary.Com, an extra web page will open on top of the existing page.
More about this site
To find a story in the archives, enter a keyword or keywords in the search box in the upper left-had corner of the page.
Select stories from 1996 to present are available. Please note that in the 1990s, only five stories per publication were posted on the web. About May, 1998, most of the major stories published were posted. Items that were very time sensitive, such as movie reviews or photo stories on specific local activities, may have been removed. An attempt has been made to retain major national and local stories.
Base guides: Sometimes referred to as Newcomer Guides, these publications are intended for military personnel and their families that have been transferred to the Washington, D.C., area. A printed publication is provided to the military person when they arrive at the base. An abbreviated version is published on this site. Specific questions can be directed to the publisher with a reference to the specific military installation.
