Bethesda Doctor Named Chiropractor of the Year

William Morgan, a staff chiropractor at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., was recently selected by the American Chiropractic Association as Chiropractor of the Year.

With approximately 65 thousand chiropractors in the United States, this award honors certain chiropractors who have served their profession and patients in an extended and significant way.

Morgan was selected as the Chiropractor of the Year, in part, for his model of chiropractic integration into the conventional health care system. Prior to coming to the medical center, he had established chiropractic services in other medical clinics and a civilian hospital.

For five years prior his appointment to Bethesda, Morgan also spent two mornings per week serving in a rural health center, providing care to underserved populations. In 1985, he worked for three months as a chiropractor in the jungles of Liberia, West Africa, through the Christian relief organization Partners International.

Morgan has been a staff member at Bethesda since 1998 and is an active member of the Chiropractic Association's Committee on Utilization and Review. He also chairs the committee on Military and Veteran's Affairs.

A veteran of naval service, Morgan had served in a Marine Recon unit and in Naval Special Warfare Unit 1 as a diver/parachutist/special operations corpsman.

Morgan was unable to attend the award ceremony. Fellow chiropractor and Marine, Lt. Col. Mark Losack, received the award in his place.
