Jocelyn Norbeck is a proud Navy wife and new mom as well as the ombudsman for Air Test and Evaluation Squadron (HX) 21. She enjoys meeting new people and helping where she can. One of the most interesting places her family has been stationed was Hawaii, but said she is enjoying NAS Patuxent River very much.

The Ombudsman Assembly meets once a month to give the ombudsman the opportunity to network, receive updates from the base and attend trainings. This keeps them up to date and ready to serve their families.

As the assembly chair, Norbeck works with the NAS Pax River Command Triad — commanding officer, executive officer and command master chief — and the Fleet and Family Support Center Ombudsman Coordinator to facilitate the monthly meetings and arrange for suitable trainings for all ombudsmen at Pax.

Norbeck said it’s important families know the ombudsmen are here for them, regardless of rank.

“We are volunteers appointed by our military commands,” she said. “We do not discriminate according to rank. We are required to complete in-depth training to ensure we are knowledgeable and qualified to assist our families. We are the military family’s liaison to resources.”

Contact your ombudsman and let them assist you with the challenging job of being a military family.
