Fort Detrick’s Right Arm Night, sponsored by the Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, was hosted at the Community Activities Center Jan. 17.

Right Arm Night is an old Army tradition promoting camaraderie and esprit de corps. Leaders come together with those standing to their right - those who help them get through the missions - to build relationships while mixing and mingling in a relaxed environment.

The Community Activities Center provided a finger-licking barbeque spread that included barbeque pork and beef, turkey, and chicken sandwiches, collard greens, mashed potatoes, red beans and rice, and chips. They also served up samples of chocolate wine and a variety of brandies. Sam’s Club of Frederick, Md., provided the sodas, water, and cookies.

The night began with unit bingo and a balloon toss, and it ended up with Soldiers singing the Army song. 21st Signal walked away with the Right Arm Night’s Spirit Award Trophy. After the award was presented, the evening then heated up with line dancing.
