American Indian Festival celebrates area's native heritage The 4th Annual American Indian Festival at Patuxent River Park, Upper Marlboro, Md., Oct. 20 attracted families looking for an enriching and entertaining afternoon in the outdoors. Presenters from the Clearwater Nature Center brought injured animals from their rehabilitation program so that visitors could get an up-close look at local wildlife, and local practitioners of traditional crafts such as spinning, dying and weaving natural fabrics gave interactive demonstrations, while storytellers, dancers and vendors shared their pieces of Native American heritage to preserve our area's earliest cultures.
