Retiree Day set at Andrews Club

The Air Force's annual salute to its military retiree partners and families is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Joint Base Andrews Club. This year's event combines programs hosted at Joint Base Andrews (JBA) and Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB). The Retiree Activities Office at JBAB is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, call 202-767-5244.

The JBAB Chapel Annual Harvest Fest

The JBAB Chapel is hosting a free Harvest Fun Festival Wednesday, Oct. 31, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Chapel Center. This family event will feature harvest and Bible inspired games and activities, refreshments, candy and prizes. Cute or funny costumes are encouraged. Please, no scary or ghoulish costumes. D.C. Public School Open House

There will be an open house for high performing D.C. public school students, Saturday, Nov. 3. Benjamin Banneker Senior High School welcomes families to visit and explore the school for admission for the 2013/2014 school year. The school offers a four-year college prep program and international baccalaureate world school program. The school is located at 800 Euclid Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001. Halloween on JBAB

Trick or treating on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. This year will also feature pumpkin control, where volunteers will be helping children avoid any traffic in the housing areas. Movie Night

The Joint Base Gospel Service is sponsoring a movie on Friday, Nov. 9, at the Chapel Center starting at 7 p.m. The title of this film is the "Grace Card," starring Michael Joiner, Michael Higgenbottom and Louis Gossett Jr. Witness the power of Forgiveness, a powerful message to receive.

College Prep Workshop

The Protestant Youth of the Chapel is sponsoring a College Prep workshop on Nov. 10 from 1-4 p.m. at the Chapel Center. Facilitators will discuss how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), 9/11 Yellow Ribbon Program, and how to write a resume. All ages are welcome to attend. Troops to Teachers Program

The Troops to Teachers program is scheduled for Dec. 14 and is designed to assist separating or retiring military personnel in pursuing a rewarding second career in public education (elementary, secondary or vocational) while also facilitating employment in public schools. Christmas Cantata - Attention all voices

Thrift Shop Reopening

The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society Thrift Shop has relocated to Enterprise Hall (building 72). The store hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. and the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. For more information call 202-433-3364.

The Bolling Toastmasters Club meets every Wednesday from 12:15-1:15 p.m. at the JBAB Chapel Center. Participants can learn to hone their communication and leadership skills.
