Sixty days remain until the Nov. 6 general presidential election. If you have not requested your absentee ballot for the election and would like to do so, go to FVAP.gov and use our online registration and absentee ballot assistant or contact your unit or installation voting assistance officers.
If you are stationed overseas, the Military Postal Service Agency provides free expedited ballot delivery and ballot tracking to your local election office for military and their family members. Service members may go to their local post office or postal clerk, use the Label 11 - DoD form on your absentee ballot envelope and mail it in to request an overseas absentee ballot. Once completed, overseas personnel may visit www.usps.com to track the status of their ballot.
If overseas personnel haven't received their ballot by Oct. 6, they may use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) as their back-up ballot. To do so, visit FVAP.gov and use the automated assistant. For each office for which a person votes, write in either a candidate's name or their party designation.
Base personnel are encouraged to spread the word about absentee voting by passing this information on to spouses, voting age dependents, other military voters, and overseas voters.
