Col.Mitchell Brew assumed command of the Barquist Army Health Clinic from Col. Gregory Malvin at a ceremony on Aug. 3 at the Community Activities Center.
Brew, joined the clinic after serving as the Chief of Staff for the 21st Theater Sustainment Command in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The clinic also welcomed his wife, LTC Mellissa Stanfa-Brew, and their 3 children into the Fort Detrick community.
Brew received his commission through ROTC and attended undergraduate school at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has received Master's Degrees from Baylor University, University of Southern California, George Washington University, and the National Defense University. He has earned numerous awards throughout his career to include the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Malvin is retiring from the military with over 27 years of honorable service and plans to reside in the Frederick community.
