The third annual Cardboard Boat Regatta will take place at the Fort Myer Officers Club pool 50-yard pool on August 4 from 8 to 11 a.m.
Model boat builders from ages 5 to 95 are being encouraged to design, build and display boats made completely from corrugated cardboard. A race course will be devised at the pool complex plus special recognition will be awarded to boats for the most spectacular design (the vogue award), the most creative design (pride of the regatta award), a team spirit award and a Titanic Award will be given to the craft which endures the most spectacular sinking.
Trophies will also be awarded for first, second and third places in each age group and category. Categories include youth division I (ages 5 to 10 years); youth division II (ages 11 to 17 years); youth/adult division II (consisting of at least one adult with youth aged 5 to 17 years) and adult/military division III (18 years of age and up).
There is no entry fee, and would-be participants must meet Department of Defense requirements. Rules and entry forms can be obtained at the Officers Club Pool (Bldg. 214). All entry forms must be submitted by Aug. 2.

Second “Dive and a Movie” scheduled
The Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Directorate of Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation also wished to remind JBM-HH Family members, active duty and retiree's that MWR along with the USO will host “Dive and a Movie” on Saturday, July 28 at the Officers Club pool complex.
The movie feature is “The Muppets.” Gates open at 8 p.m. and show time is slated for 9 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring their own flotation devices, food and drinks, but no glass bottles will be allowed in the pool complex.
In the event of severe weather or high winds, the event will be cancelled.
