Strict Enforcement of America Garage

New measures have been implemented to ensure Building 63 remains for use by "PATIENTS ONLY." The garage will be blocked to incoming traffic from midnight to 6 a.m. All patients arriving before 6 a.m. are to park in the Building 55 (Arrowhead Garage) in the designated patient parking spots. No staff, whether issued a "Red" staff parking placard or not or holding a handicapped parking permit, are authorized to park in Building 63. All staff holding a "RED" staff parking placard and handicapped parking permit are to park in the designated staff parking areas of Building 54 (Liberty Garage), Building 55 (Arrowhead Garage), MUPS (Multi-Use Parking Garage), G-Lot (near the North Gate), CDC Lot (Child Development Center), AFFRI (Armed Force Radio-Biological Research Institute), and the Stone Lake Road Parking while onboard Naval Support Activity Bethesda on their regular scheduled work/duty day. The only time a Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) staff member may park in a designated PATIENT ONLY parking area is when either the sponsor (while on leave or off duty) or dependent of a staff member is attending a scheduled clinical appointment with a provider at WRNMMC.

Cathy Shefka Center for Breastfeeding

The Cathy Shefka Center for Breastfeeding in Building 10's Mother and Infant Care Center (MICC) at Walter Reed Bethesda is part of ongoing quality improvement initiatives at the medical center related to breastfeeding support. The current purpose of this space is to provide inpatient education and support, according to Shannon Riley, registered nurse and lactation consultant on the MICC. The MICC welcomes feedback and suggestions from patients about how it can support breastfeeding families. Comments or questions should be directed to Riley at (301) 319-5048 or Shannon.ril ey@med.navy.mil.
