On May 31, the USAG Installation Safety Management Office hosted the 27th Annual Safety Awareness Day at the Communities Activity Center. Historically, Safety Awareness Day kicks off the 101 Days of Summer Safety Campaign, and is the annual precursor to the month of June which is Safety Awareness Month. The theme for the day was, "Practice Safety Today-Fort Detrick Needs You Tomorrow." The keynote speaker was David G. Madaras, President, Chesapeake Region, National Safety Council.

Over 300 employees attended the event. Vendors provided general safety information. Construction industries as well as USAG Directorates displayed the latest technologies and equipment focused on promoting the importance of Safety Awareness.Garrison Commander Risk Management Awards were presented to the USAG Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation's Warehouse Staff and the National Center for Medical Intelligence.
