Secretary of the Maryland Department of Veteran Affairs Edward Chow Jr. speaks to those in attendance of the Asian-Pacific American Heritage Luncheon, May 29, at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. May celebrates Asians and Pacific Islanders as part of the month-long recognition that was passed into law by President George H. W. Bush in 1992. Chow completed his service as a Captain with the U.S. Army while serving in Vietnam in 1967 where he was awarded the bronze star. He remains active and has extensive experience in the public, private and nonprofit sectors and is a Life Member of American Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Vietnam Veterans of America.
